Crème Brûlée Overnight French Toast

 

 

Ingredients

– 1 loaf of French bread, cut into 1 inch thick pieces

– 5 large eggs

– 1 cup half and half

– 1 cup whole milk

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– 2/3 cup granulated sugar, plus a little extra for garnish

– 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

– 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

– maple syrup, for serving

Instructions

1. Generously A 9 x Butter 13-inch baking dish. Arrange the baguette slices in a single layer on the plate,

overlapping them slightly if necessary.

2. In a large bowl, combine the eggs, half the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, 2/3 cup sugar, cinnamon and

nutmeg.Beat until well mixed.

3. Pour the egg mixture over the bread slices, making sure all the bread is soaked. At this point, if you wish, you

4.Cover the dish with cling film and leave everything to marinate in the fridge overnight so that the flavors can

get to know each other well.

5. The next morning, preheat the oven to 175°C. Remove the plastic wrap because it’s showtime for the French

toast.

6.Cover the top of the bread with small pieces of butter and sprinkle with a little sugar, because who can resist a

7. Bake for 35-40 minutes until the toast is puffed and golden brown like a sunny, crisp autumn morning.

overnight soak – it really ensures that every bite of your French toast is creamy and full of flavor.

– If you are in a hurry in the morning, you can skip the caramel sugar topping and serve it with a little powdered

sugar.
