or 1 pound lean ground beef

or 2 tablespoons butter

or 1 small yellow onion, diced

or 1 small green pepper, diced


or 8 ounces chopped brown mushrooms

or 2 tablespoons tomato sauce

o 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

o 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

o 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper


o 1 tablespoon cornstarch

o 1 cup beef broth

o 8 ounces chopped provolone cheese (use 6 ounces if you don’t want) (I don’t want too much cheese)

or 6 brioche burger buns

How to prepare Philly Cheese Steak Sloppy Joes

1. Place the ground meat in a large cast iron skillet (it browns very well) and fry until a dark brown crust forms

before separating the meat.

2. Stir the minced meat and fry until a deep crust forms on about 50 percent of the meat.

3.Take out the meat (you can omit the fat) and add butter and onions, peppers and mushrooms.

4. Let it brown for 1-2 minutes before stirring, then let it brown for another 1-2 minutes before stirring again.


5. Put the meat back in the pan.6. In a small cup, stir together beef broth and cornstarch . 7. Add ketchup,

Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper and the beef broth and cornstarch mixture to the pan.

8. Cook until mixture is slightly liquid (approximately 75% of mixture is liquid), 3 to 5 minutes.9. Turn off the heat

and add the provolone cheese.

10. Served on toasted brioche bread.
