Recipe for Classic Crab Salad

Recipe for Classic Crab Salad

This classic crab salad is a simple yet delicious dish that can be enjoyed as a side, in sandwiches, or even on its own. Here’s how to make it:

1 pound imitation crab meat, flaked or chopped (or real crab meat if preferred)

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1/4 cup sour cream

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1/2 cup celery, finely chopped

1/4 cup red bell pepper, finely chopped

1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped

1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh dill or parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Prepare the Ingredients:

If using imitation crab meat, flake or chop it into bite-sized pieces. If using real crab meat, ensure it is picked over for any shells.

Make the Dressing:

In a large bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, and Old Bay seasoning (if using). Mix until smooth and well combined.

Combine the Salad:

Add the crab meat, celery, red bell pepper, and green onions to the bowl with the dressing. Gently toss to combine, ensuring all the ingredients are evenly coated with the dressing.

Season and Chill:

Season the salad with salt and pepper to taste.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld together.

Once chilled, give the salad a quick stir and garnish with fresh dill or parsley.

Serve the crab salad chilled, either on its own, on a bed of lettuce, or as a filling for sandwiches or wraps.

Customize Your Salad: Feel free to add other ingredients such as diced cucumber, avocado, or hard-boiled eggs for extra flavor and texture.

Lighter Option: For a lighter version, you can substitute the mayonnaise with Greek yogurt or use a combination of both.

Serving Suggestions: This crab salad pairs well with crackers, in a sandwich with fresh greens, or as a topping for a green salad.

Enjoy your classic crab salad, a refreshing and tasty dish that’s perfect for any meal!
