These soft and fluffy dinner rolls are perfect for any meal, whether it’s a special holiday feast or a regular family dinner. They are light, airy, and deliciously buttery. Here’s how to make them:

4 cups all-purpose flour

2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup whole milk

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1/4 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)

Activate the Yeast:

In a small bowl, combine the warm water and a pinch of sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

Prepare the Dough:

In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 1/2 cups of the flour, sugar, and salt.

In a small saucepan, heat the milk until it is warm (not boiling). Remove from heat and add the melted butter.

Pour the milk and butter mixture into the dry ingredients. Add the frothy yeast mixture and the eggs. Mix until combined.

Gradually add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition, until a soft dough forms.

Knead the Dough:

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour as needed.

First Rise:

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm, draft-free place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

Shape the Rolls:

Punch down the risen dough to release any air bubbles. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface.

Divide the dough into 16 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a smooth ball and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish or round cake pans.

Second Rise:

Cover the shaped rolls with a kitchen towel and let them rise in a warm place for about 30-45 minutes, or until they have doubled in size.

Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Bake the Rolls:

Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.

Brush with Butter:

Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately brush the tops with melted butter for a soft, shiny finish.

Serve:

Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm with a pat of butter or your favorite spread.

Yeast Activation: Make sure the water is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast without killing it.
