  •  Dash of hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

 Preheat and prep:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Lightly grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

 Mix the meatloaf:

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, onion, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, salt, and pepper.
Use your hands or a spatula to gently mix until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the meatloaf tender.

Optional: Fold in the shredded cheese at this stage for an extra rich center.

 Shape and bake:

Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan and shape it into a firm loaf.
Bake uncovered for 40 minutes.

 Add the glaze:

In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, and hot sauce if using.
Remove the meatloaf from the oven after 40 minutes and spread the glaze evenly over the top.

Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) and the glaze is glossy and slightly caramelized.

Rest and serve:

Let the meatloaf rest in the pan for at least 10 minutes before slicing. This helps retain moisture and makes it easier to cut clean slices.

Storage & Reheating

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

  • Reheat slices in the oven or microwave with a bit of extra glaze or broth to keep them moist.

  • Freezes beautifully! Wrap tightly in foil and freeze for up to 2 months.

Tips & Add-ons

  • Substitute ground turkey or pork for part of the beef to mix up the flavor.

  • Add chopped parsley, bell peppers, or grated carrot for extra texture and color.

  • Serve with creamy mashed potatoes, green beans, or roasted carrots for a classic combo.
