200g unsalted butter, at room temperature
200g sugar
3 large eggs

1 tsp almond extract
150g all-purpose flour
50g ground almonds (almond flour)
1 tsp baking powder
A pinch of salt

Directions
1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a 20 cm (8-inch) round or rectangular cake pan.
2. Cream the Butter & Sugar
Beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy using a hand mixer or stand mixer.

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in the almond extract.
4. Mix Dry Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, ground almonds, baking powder, and salt.
5. Combine Wet & Dry
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture. Mix until just combined.
6. Fold in Almonds
Fold in most of the sliced almonds, saving a handful for the topping.
7. Pour and Smooth
Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
