Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F and grease baking dish.
- Cook beef and onion until browned, add garlic, season, drain.
- Layer half potatoes, half beef, half cheese. Repeat layers.
- Mix sour cream, soup, and milk. Pour over casserole.
- Cover with foil, bake 45 minutes.
- Remove foil, bake 15–20 more minutes.
- Garnish and serve hot.
Notes
Prep ahead: assemble and refrigerate up to 24 hours.
Freeze leftovers up to 2 months.
Top with fried onions or extra cheese for crunch.
