Cheesy Hamburger Potato Casserole

A cozy casserole made with layers of seasoned ground beef, potatoes, creamy sauce, and melted cheese.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 4 cups thinly sliced potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese divided
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can cream of chicken or mushroom soup
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika optional
  • Salt & black pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and grease baking dish.
  2. Cook beef and onion until browned, add garlic, season, drain.
  3. Layer half potatoes, half beef, half cheese. Repeat layers.
  4. Mix sour cream, soup, and milk. Pour over casserole.
  5. Cover with foil, bake 45 minutes.
  6. Remove foil, bake 15–20 more minutes.
  7. Garnish and serve hot.

Notes

Prep ahead: assemble and refrigerate up to 24 hours.
Freeze leftovers up to 2 months.
Top with fried onions or extra cheese for crunch.
