Ingredients
  

  • For the Bars
  • 1 ½ cups butter softened
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ tsp almond extract
  • 5 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 2 cans cherry pie filling 21 oz each
  • For the Glaze
  • 1 cup confectioner’s sugar
  • 3 tbsp milk

  • 12×17-inch jelly roll pan

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12×17-inch pan with foil, spray with nonstick spray.
  2. Cream butter and sugar. Add salt, eggs, vanilla, almond extract. Mix well.
  3. Add flour and baking powder until just combined.
  4. Reserve 1 ¾ cups dough. Press remaining into pan. Spread cherry filling evenly. Drop dough pieces on top.
  5. Bake 50–60 minutes until golden.
  6. Cool completely. Mix glaze ingredients and drizzle over bars.
  7. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

Try mixing cherry with blueberry for variety.
For a cheesecake version, add a cream cheese layer under the cherries.
Store at room temperature up to 3 days.
