Ingredients
  

  • For the Casserole:
  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef or turkey
  • 4 –5 medium potatoes about 2 lbs, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 2 –3 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • For the Seasoning:
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • - Large skillet
  • Mixing spoon
  • - Knife and cutting board
  • Foil

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease dish.
  2. Brown meat with onions and garlic. Drain and season.
  3. Layer potatoes, meat, and cheese in dish. Repeat, finishing with cheese.
  4. Cover with foil and bake 45–50 minutes.
  5. Remove foil, bake 10–15 minutes more until golden.
  6. Let rest 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use lentils or mushrooms for vegetarian version.
Swap cheeses for variety.
Freeze leftovers up to 2 months.
