  • 6 large Granny Smith apples
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • For the Topping:
  • 1 cup oats
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup cold butter cubed

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F, grease baking dish.
  2. Toss apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, lemon juice, and vanilla. Spread in dish.
  3. Mix oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly.
  4. Sprinkle topping over apples.
  5. Bake 45–50 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
  6. Cool slightly and serve warm.

Notes

Use a mix of apple varieties for best flavor.
