- Instructions:
- Heat milk in saucepan until just simmering.
- Whisk egg yolks, sugar, cornstarch, and salt until pale.
- Temper eggs with hot milk, then return to saucepan.
- Cook over medium heat until thick and bubbling.
- Remove from heat; stir in butter and vanilla.
- Transfer to bowl, cover with plastic wrap, chill until set
