- Brown beef with onion and pepper in a large skillet; drain fat.
- Stir in garlic; cook 1 minute. Add ketchup, tomato paste, brown sugar, Worcestershire, mustard, paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer 8–10 minutes.
- Heat oven to 400°F (200°C). Mix butter with garlic powder; spread on both sides of Texas toast. Bake 5–6 minutes, flipping once.
- Spoon sloppy joe mixture onto toast, top with cheddar. Bake 3–4 minutes to melt.
- Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
Notes
For less sweetness, cut brown sugar to 1–2 tbsp and add 1 tsp vinegar.
