Glazed Carrots Recipe

A simple, comforting side dish with the perfect touch of sweetness and spice!

These glazed carrots are tender, buttery, and lightly sweetened — a perfect side for any meal, from weeknight dinners to holiday feasts. The brown sugar and cinnamon create a warm, caramelized glaze that makes the carrots irresistibly good.

Ingredients

  •  1 lb carrots, peeled and sliced (diagonally or in rounds)

  •  2 tbsp butter

  •  2 tbsp brown sugar or honey

  •  ½ tsp salt

  •  ¼ tsp black pepper

  •  ¼ tsp cinnamon (optional, for added warmth)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the carrots:
Wash, peel, and slice the carrots evenly. For extra visual appeal, slice them on the diagonal.

  2. Cook the carrots:
In a large skillet or saucepan, add the carrots and enough water to just cover them. Bring to a boil and cook for 6–8 minutes, or until tender but not mushy. Drain and set aside.

  3. Make the glaze:
In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar (or honey), salt, pepper, and cinnamon. Let it bubble for 1–2 minutes, until slightly thickened and glossy.

  4. Glaze the carrots:
Add the cooked carrots back to the skillet and toss to coat them in the glaze. Stir gently for 2–3 more minutes until heated through and fully glazed.

  5. Serve and garnish:
Serve warm, optionally garnished with fresh parsley or chopped nuts (like pecans or walnuts) for a festive touch.

Tips & Variations

  • For extra sweetness, add a splash of orange juice or maple syrup to the glaze.

  • Want a savory touch? Add a pinch of thyme or rosemary instead of cinnamon.
