• In a small bowl, stir together soy sauce, beef broth, oyster sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch and
sesame oil until well combined. Put aside.
3. BLANCHING BROCCOLI
• Bring water to the boil in a pot. Add the broccoli florets and blanch until bright green and slightly
tender, about 2 minutes.Drain and rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process. Put aside.
4. PREPARE THE MEAT
• Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the marinated meat in a
single layer, leaving space between pieces so it browns and doesn’t steam. You may need to do this in
batches to avoid crowding the pan. Fry for 1-2 minutes on each side until the meat is golden brown
but still slightly pink in the center. Remove the meat from the pan and set aside.
5. FRYING BROCCOLI
• In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil.Add the minced garlic and ginger
and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add the blanched broccoli florets to the pan, stirring
frequently, about 2 minutes.
6. COMBINE AND FINISH
• Return the cooked beef to the pan with the broccoli. Stir the sauce again to recombine the
separated cornstarch, then pour it over the meat and broccoli.Cook, stirring constantly, for another 2-
3 minutes or until the sauce thickens and coats the ingredients well.
7. SERVE
• Serve the roasted beef and broccoli immediately, garnished with sesame seeds and sliced scallions if
desired. This dish goes wonderfully with rice or steamed noodles.
