Delicious Homemade Pecan Sticky Buns

Pecan sticky buns are a delightful treat that brings warmth and comfort to any breakfast table.

These sweet, gooey buns, topped with a generous amount of pecans, are perfect for special occasions or simply for indulging yourself.

The combination of soft dough, caramelized pecan topping, and a hint of cinnamon creates a symphony of flavors and textures that are hard to resist.

For the Dough:

1 cup warm milk (110°F)

2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs, room temperature

1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted

4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

For the Filling:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar, packed

2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

For the Topping:

1 cup unsalted butter

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup honey

2 cups pecans, roughly chopped

Prepare the Dough:

In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, add sugar, eggs, and melted butter. Mix well.

Add the yeast mixture to the egg mixture and stir to combine.

Gradually add flour and salt to the mixture, stirring until a dough forms.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.

Prepare the Topping:

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.

Add brown sugar and honey, stirring until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is smooth.

Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and sprinkle chopped pecans evenly over the top.

Prepare the Filling:

In a small bowl, mix together softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until well combined.

Assemble the Buns:

Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle.

Spread the cinnamon-sugar filling evenly over the dough.

Roll the dough tightly into a log, starting from one of the long sides.

Cut the log into 12 even slices and place them in the prepared baking dish, on top of the pecan mixture.

Final Rise:

Cover the baking dish with a damp cloth and let the buns rise in a warm place for about 30-45 minutes, or until they double in size.

Bake the Buns:

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Bake the buns for about 25-30 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.

Allow the buns to cool in the baking dish for about 5 minutes.

Invert the baking dish onto a serving platter, allowing the caramelized pecan topping to drip over the buns.

Serve warm and enjoy!

Pecan sticky buns are a delicious, indulgent treat that can transform any morning into a special occasion.

The rich, buttery dough paired with the sweet and sticky pecan topping is a combination that is sure to please.

Whether you’re making them for a holiday breakfast or just because, these sticky buns are a wonderful way to start the day.
