This is my grandfather’s favorite recipe. The house smells amazing every time I make it

German potato pancakes Recipe
Ingredients:
1 pound peeled and grated potatoes
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 egg
3 tablespoons flour
Salt and pepper to taste

Vegetable oil for frying
Optional toppings: applesauce, sour cream, Smoked salmon or sauerkraut
Optional side dishes: green salad or sauerkraut

Grate potatoes and squeeze out excess moisture with a kitchen towel.Mix the grated potatoes with the chopped

onion.
In a separate bowl, mix egg, flour, salt and pepper until smooth.
Gradually mix the egg mixture into the potato-onion mixture.
Heat the oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
Add a spoonful of the potato mixture to the pan and flatten it into flat cakes.Fry for 3-4 minutes on each side
until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
Serve hot with your favorite dressings and side dishes.
Note:
Keep cooked pancakes warm in a low oven if not serving immediately. Leftovers can be refrigerated and
reheated.
