medium-low and stir in the onions.Continue stirring and sautéing the onions until soft and

Meanwhile, prepare a large mixing bowl. Place the ground beef in the bowl and add 2 tablespoons

Worcestershire sauce, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon salt, and ½ teaspoon ground black
pepper. Crumble the ground beef with your hands and mix the spices into the meat. Then press the
minced meat into the bottom of the bowl and use a butter knife to divide it into six equal portions.
Place a large sheet of parchment paper or aluminum foil on the work surface. One by one, shape the
minced meat portions into very flat ovals that are larger than the bread slices. (They will shrink as they
cook.)
Place 12 slices of thick-cut sandwich bread on top.Spread a generous teaspoon of yellow mustard on
six slices.
Preheat a griddle or large skillet over medium heat. (If you use a skillet, you will most likely need to

work in batches.) Carefully place the burgers on the grill or skillet. Fry the burgers for 3 minutes per
side.Once you’ve flipped the burgers, place an equal portion of caramelized onions on each burger,
spreading them so that the onions completely cover the meat. Place a slice of American cheese and a
slice of Swiss cheese on each burger. Continue cooking until the burger is cooked for at least 6
minutes total.
Now carefully place each loaded burger with the mustard on top of the bread slices.
Clean the iron with a paper towel.(It’s best to use a spatula to move the paper towel around the iron
to avoid burning your fingers.)
Now add 2 tablespoons of butter to the griddle and spread it so that the surface is covered. Place the
melted burgers in stacks on the griddle and top with the additional slices of bread.
Toast the bread for 2 to 3 minutes until golden brown. If necessary, reduce heat to medium-low and
watch carefully.Once ready to flip, add the last 2 tablespoons of butter to the skillet. Flip the burger
over and melt while the butter melts. Roast for another 2-3 minutes to ensure the second side is
perfectly toasted.
Place the melted burgers on a cutting board, making sure the cheese is on top of the burgers. Halve
them and serve immediately.
