1 cup powdered sugar
1-2 tablespoons lemon juice (adjust for desired consistency)
Instructions:
Prepare the Dough:
In a large bowl, mix 2 cups of the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
In a small saucepan, heat the milk and butter until the butter is melted. Remove from heat and add the water. Allow to cool until warm (but not hot).
Pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture. Add the eggs and vanilla. Stir until a sticky dough forms. Add the remaining 3/4 cup flour gradually, until the dough is soft but not sticky.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes. Place in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Make Lemon Sugar Filling:

While the dough is rising, mix the granulated sugar and lemon zest together. Set aside.
Shape the Bread:
Roll the dough into a 20×12 inch rectangle. Brush the melted butter over the dough. Sprinkle the lemon sugar evenly over the dough.
Slice the dough vertically into six equal strips. Stack the strips on top of each other and then cut the stack into six equal slices again. You’ll have 36 small squares.
Layer the dough squares in a greased 9×5 inch loaf pan. Cover the pan and let the dough rise for 30-45 minutes until puffy.
Bake:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden brown. If the top browns too quickly, tent the bread with aluminum foil.
Prepare Lemon Icing:
While the bread is cooling, whisk together powdered sugar and lemon juice until smooth.
Finish:
Drizzle the icing over the warm bread.
This Lemon Pull-Apart Bread is best enjoyed warm, offering a soft, citrus-infused treat that’s perfect for any occasion, especially during spring and summer gatherings.
