Cherry Danish Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water (110°F to 115°F)
1/2 cup milk, lukewarm
1/4 cup sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 1/2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour
For the Filling:

1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
For the Icing:
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:
Prepare the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add the milk, sugar, salt, egg, butter, and 2 cups of flour. Beat until smooth.
Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough (do not knead).
Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
Shape and Fill:

Punch down dough. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; divide into 16 pieces.
Shape each into a ball and flatten into a disc. Place on greased baking sheets.
Make a small well in the center of each disc and fill with cherry pie filling.
Bake the Danishes:
Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.
Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove from oven and let cool on wire racks.
Prepare the Icing:
In a small bowl, combine powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Stir until smooth.
