Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy

 

 

 

Ingredients:

 

For the Patties:

1 lb (450g) ground beef

1/3 cup bread crumbs

1 egg

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

1 clove garlic, minced

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper to taste

For the Gravy:

2 tbsp butter

1 cup sliced mushrooms

1/2 cup finely chopped onion

2 tbsp all-purpose flour

2 cups beef broth

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy

Instructions:

 

Make the Patties:

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper.

Mix until well combined, then form into 4 patties.

Cook the Patties:

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a little oil.

Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Gravy:

In the same skillet, add the butter and let it melt.

Add the mushrooms and onion, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.

Stir in the flour and cook for another minute.

Gradually add the beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.

Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.

Let the gravy simmer until it thickens, about 5 minutes.

Combine:

Return the patties to the skillet and spoon the gravy over them.

Let them simmer in the gravy for a few minutes to heat through.

Serve:

Serve the Salisbury steaks with mashed potatoes, rice, or your favorite side dish, and enjoy!
