Turkish bread recipe
Turkish bread, known for its light, soft filling and light crust, is indispensable for Turkish cuisine. It is
usually served with main dishes, used as sauces and dips, or simply consumed with olive oil. Making
your own Turkish bread at home is a rewarding experience that helps you learn the basics of
traditional Turkish bread. Here is a simple recipe to make this delicious bread.

Ingredients:
• 500 g (about 4 cups) all-purpose flour and baking powder
• 2 tablespoons of salt
• 1 tablespoon of sugar
• 2 tablespoons of instant yeast

• 2 tablespoons of olive oil and extra virgin olive oil
• 1 tablespoon of yoghurt (optional, easily crumbly)

Instructions:
1. Prepare the flour:

• Mix the flour, salt, sugar and instant yeast in a large mixing bowl. Make a well in the middle of the
mixture.
• In a separate bowl, mix hot water, olive oil and yoghurt (if available). Pour this water into the holes of
the dry material.

10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. The dough should be soft but not too sticky.
2. First rise:
• Lightly oil a clean bowl, add the flour and turn until coated with oil. Cover the bowl with a damp
cloth or plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
3. Shape the bread:
• After the dough has risen, press it down to release the air. Provide a lightly floured surface.
• For two loaves, divide the dough into two equal parts. Roll each piece into a ball, then shape into a
1/2-inch-wide disk or oval shape. You can also make a large loaf if you want.

5. Prepare to bake:
• Preheat your oven to 220°C.
